Holywell is a school for children between the ages of 3 and 11 years. We are an ambitious and forward-looking school which aims to make a real difference to the children who come here. This is reflected in our school motto ‘The Spirit to Succeed’. We work in partnership with parents and the local community to provide a wide range of services and support.
Holywell Primary School was originally two separate schools that were amalgamated some years ago. The school is housed in 2 separate large, well-equipped buildings with spacious teaching areas. There are two large halls, a well-stocked library, a Food Technology room, quiet reading areas and an ICT suite.
We have a very large playing field plus two well-equipped hard play areas. Both playgrounds have recently been refurbished with adventurous play equipment.
Most of our pupils come from the surrounding neighbourhood, reflecting the cosmopolitan nature of our local community. Their differing backgrounds are respected by everyone and add interest and insight to our lessons. In each class there are children of varying abilities.
We work closely with a wide range of professionals to support families and link to other services, such as the Westfield Children’s Centre. We work with health professionals and childcare specialists to offer the best possible range of services to pre-school children. We are also developing a wide range of extended services to children and their families, including after-school clubs, parent classes and adult education.
We provide a variety of opportunities for our pupils to exercise their talents and try their hands at new skills and interests. We consider our greatest strength to be the strong commitment of the staff and governors to provide a secure, caring and stimulating environment in which children will be encouraged and inspired to achieve their potential, in all aspects of their academic, physical and social development.
